About

Sachin Tandon

Sachin Tandon has an enduring interest in the Technology and Engineering, Film, Media, & Entertainment, and Renewable Energy sectors, and currently works to help businesses (mostly in these sectors) apply the techniques of Science & Engineering (e.g. in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, etc.) to help them make smarter, more data-driven business decisions (from their Financial, H.R., Marketing, Manufacturing, Procurement, etc. Data), using modern ‘Cloud Computing’ and ‘Data Visualisation’ technologies.

Sachin considers himself very fortunate, in his 15+ year career to date, to have worked with people, in a variety of companies (start-ups, S.M.E.s, conglomerates), and countries (U.K., Japan, India, Middle East, and U.S.A.), helping them improve their processes and test out new ideas, to achieve exceptional improvements in speed and quality.

In fact, it was after learning Japanese, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, during his third year of his undegraduate degree, that Sachin, in 2007, flew to Tokyo to work for the Engingeering company, Hitachi Digital (to solve a challenging Manufacturing Engineering problem). It was also here, in the bussling Electronics District of Akihabara, Tokyo, when he also bought his first Digital S.L.R. Camera, so he could continue to pursue his interests in Creative Photography, whilst also travel across the country to deepen his culturing understanding of Japanese food, tradition, heritage and history.

After his Masters degree in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, U.K (where he was also President for 4 years of his College’s Film Society, Caius Films), and an Exchange Year from M.I.T. in Boston, the U.S.A., Sachin then set out to learn about Business & Finance, working early on in his career for the Professional Services firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers, in London - across their Advisory and Assurance departments. There, as he worked for various clients by day, he also studied at night, and over the weekends, to become a Qualified Accountant, and after 3 years of much graft, successfully became a Chartered Accountant.

After his early years in Finance & Accounting, Sachin then went on to pursue a self-funded M.B.A., from Manchester Business School. This was driven by two main objectives: (i) to learn more broadly about business - especially of those business functions and topics that were new to him (e.g., in Marketing, Human Resources, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Digital Commerce, Business Strategy, Advanced Strategic Management), and (ii) to learn about more about other areas in Finance (e.g., such as: Corporate Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Venture Capital), that he previously did not have much exposure to.

His experiences from the course gave him a much wider perspective of business, and also allowed him to further develop his confidence, Management and Leadership skills.

After completing his M.B.A., Sachin then set up his venture: StarTech Enterprises - a Private Limited Company through which he works passionately to help organisations in the “Technology & Engineering”, “Media & Entertainment”, and “Renewable Energy” sectors - so they may overcome some of their greatest business challenges, successfully transform themselves, and find new ways to grow!

His past clients have included companies, such as: W.P.P. (Wunderman Thompson, Hogarth, Geometry), The Omnicom Media Group (Portland Communications), Apple (Orignal Productions), Hitachi Digital, Warner Media/Warner Brothers, The B.B.C., and Jaguar Land Rover - in the Technology & Engineering, Media & Entertainment, and Renewable Energy sectors, to: Diageo Corporate Ventures, The Landmark Group, Carrefour, Happy Ratio, and J. L. Rohatgi Memorial Eye Hospital - in the Retail, Food & Drink, and Medical sectors.

In doing so, Sachin has been able to accumulate a breadth of experiences and knowledge, from different perspectives, across the Technology, Engineering, Media, Marketing, Retail, Finance, Education, and Travel sectors.

Being able to use and apply his science, engineering, and experiences to a variety of business problems is something he finds incredibly stimulating, but also extremely grateful for, as something he is able to do from the past experiences and skills he has gained.

Building up his network of contacts, Sachin’s primary focus now is on helping his clients, (especially those in the above mentioned sectors), solve their toughest problems in business, by providing his clients with a high-quality, practical, and lasting solutions (and where appropriate, advice and suggestions, on such solutions), so that they may continue to flourish and expand.

Sachin’s passion for leadership, enthusiasm for a challenge, and strong desire to leave a lasting legacy of innovation for every client he works with - is what makes him tick - (and literally, what he centre’s his life around!). These, he strongly believes, will continue to be the driving forces behind an ambition to want to “climb the highest mountain”!
